To search the Hudson's Bay Company Archives begin by going to the library homepage and click on the "Classic Catalogue" tab and search the terms "HBCA Microfilm":

This will bring you to the record for our HBCA Microfilm collection. Click on the link "Keystone Archives Descriptive Database". This will take you to the Archives of Manitoba website where you can search the records.

Once on the site, search the terms, company name, location etc. in the search field.

Keyword search: Fort George (BC) post journals

From the results page, click on Descriptions of Archival Records and select the listing you want to view. Finally, click on the link to "View an online list of these records" under "How to proceed."

From the list, make sure you record the reel number (1M####). This is what you will use to locate the film in the library.

Make note of the reel number, for example: 1MA25 for Fort George (BC) post journal (1906-1911)

Once you have located the reel number head to the 2nd floor microfilm collection to retrieve the film.

Not sure how to use the microfilm machine/scanner, check out our microfilm scanner guide.
